We are planning some fun events during National School Choice Week, coming up January 24th-30th, 2016. We have already had people willing and wanting to help and participate, and we would love to have as much participation as possible!
We feel that our ability to choose how our children are taught should be celebrated! Here is an overview of what will be happening each day during National School Choice Week:
Please click on the link below to RSVP to the events or to volunteer!
MONDAY, January 25th: Potluck at 6pm, Volunteer Appreciation Awards, and cookie decorating at TBD.
(We will be making cookies on Sunday and decorating them Monday night.) We will be donating them to the Great Falls Police Department, Emergency Dispatchers, and the Cascade County Sheriff’s Office and Correctional Officers.
We would also like to take time to recognize volunteers in our homeschool community. If you would like to (anonymously) nominate a volunteer, please click on this link: http://goo.gl/forms/eZ73b06jDf
TUESDAY, January 26th: Cookie Delivery and Stand-Out
Cookie Delivery will take place between 10am and 11am. Please sign up on the RSVP form if you would like to help deliver the cookies. Group size is limited.
After delivery, everyone is welcome to meet up, have a quick snack, and make or customize signs so we can stand out at the Courthouse and show Great Falls that we are proud of our choice to homeschool! Please contact
WEDNESDAY, January 27th: School Choice Fair and Parent and Teen Panel
We will be downstairs at the library for this event. After 11:30am, you can browse tables with different curriculum, find out what activities could be available for homeschoolers, and see what other options are out there besides public school. (Please note: while curriculum will be available to view, no selling is allowed.)
At 12:30, you can sit down and eat your lunch (please bring a sack-lunch) while listening to our Parent and Teen Panels. These seasoned homeschool parents will be answering your questions regarding homeschooling through high school and what you might want to know about college. Their grown children will discuss what it is like from their perspective.
After the panels, you are again welcome to browse the tables and talk with panelists.
If you have a question for our panelists, or would like to see a specific curriculum, please submit it through this form:http://goo.gl/forms/6oatiFR5Bn
THURSDAY, January 28th: Guest Speakers: Jessi and Augusto from Animal Wonders
Animal Wonders will be here from Missoula to talk about animals that live in the Rainforest. They will be bringing along some of their rescued, animal ambassadors! Your children will learn about the different layers of the rainforest, see and learn about the really amazing animals that live there, as well as get an opportunity to meet some of them up-close! Bring your camera! They do educational presentations all around western Montana and are really excited to be coming to Great Falls with their animals for the very first time!
Tickets are $5.00 per person and MUST be purchased in advance. Tickets are limited to 50 children (3+) per show. They will be offered to homeschool families first, but we will open them up to private schools and public audiences if we have tickets left leading up to their arrival. There will be two presentations. The first at 1:15pm and the second at 3:00pm. Both will be held at Valley Community Bible Church.
Please contact Coya through Facebook, text or call her cell at 605-484-1537, or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org to make arrangements to purchase tickets.
FRIDAY, January 29th: Hot Drinks and Cool Treats up at Showdown and a Boys Basketball Game in Great Falls
For those who will be up on the hill at Showdown, we will be providing a little treat there.
There is also a Boys Basketball Game being played at 6 (Junior Varsity) and 7:30 (Varsity). Come out and support the Great Falls Bulldogs at the Rec. Center!
Thank you all!
